Day 6

Oct.11 Saturday

Hi All,

Well another day in paradise.
Today we headed over to Bryce Canyon and what a trip!

It's an 81 mile trip over there. Most people would take the highway
but were not most people. We found a dirt road that was a shortcut, well in distance anyway.
The sign going in said DO NOT TRAVEL when wet. So we looked up and not a cloud in the sky,
so I said lets give it a try. A 1000 ft in the women were saying turn back!
I told them that God had told me to go this way so they relaxed.

Well the next 40 miles took us 5 hours but in was the most scenic route we have taken.
We were averaging 7-10 mile a hour tops on a washboard road. Good thing we had a Jeep.

Here is a cowgirl from dry gulch.

There were no signs that said beware of falling rocks. Sue said that it was because no
one was brave enough to set them up.

Here a small one that had fallen. I had the girls get out and move it so we could get by.

While they were busy moving the rock I was trying to call for road assistance on my cell.
Can you hear me now ?
Can you hear me now ?
I hate these cheap cell phones, you would think that they would have some towers out here in the middle
of nowhere. Ok girls, it's up to you.

Well what the heck is that ! I wish they would fence them things up out here.

While I'm getting chased by a mad cow, Prilly is looking for cool rocks.

Everytime we went over a hill the scenery changed.

Desert flowers.

Mt Ralphmore.

Sue takes a break.

Here we are at Grosvenor Arch

There we came across two frendly blue birds.

Sue had them eating out of her hand.

<

We finally goto Bryce and found the No Tell Motel.
The place didn't look like much but the cowgirls were friendly.

As soon as we got settled we took off for Bryce Canyon National Park.
Bryce Canyon was formed over the last 50 million years by wind and water.

High on mountain air.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The stone looks soft but is very hard and heavy.

Walking the Navaho Trail

The trail was .7 of a mile down and about the same back up.

This pine tree found it's way out.

I grab this bolden and held it so they could pass.

Sue found these rock along the way and carried them all the way to the top.

Well it's getting dark so we are heading back to the ranch.
See you all tomorrow.
Ralph, Prilly, & Sue
